POST #43: One more exciting bit of 80's news...

-Yeah, I forgot one little last bit of news. I will just copy and past the article, and then you will have all the information you need. Before I do that, I will share the information that I have. Back during my sophomore year of high school, when I really fell in love with the New Wave music invading our airwaves, one of my favorite bands was Yaz. Or if you are anywhere outside of America, YAZOO. The duo of Vince Clarke and Alison (Alf) Moyet. Anyhow, even though the duo was only together for... what... less than a year (??), they produced several hits, and two great Electro-Pop albums. Anyhow, they are reuniting for a tour (at this point it is only UK), as well as the release of a four CD box set. Now, THAT is news. Good news! Here are the nitty-gritty details...

US Dates/Cities announced:

YAZ—VINCE CLARKE & ALISON MOYET—have announced that they will reunite for the first time in over 25 years for “THE RECONNECTED TOUR,” a brief U.S trek in July starting at the Paramount Theater in Oakland, CA on July 7 and culminating in two headline shows at New York City’s Terminal 5 on July 16 and 17th. Tickets are on-sale in Chicago on Friday, March 7; NY and Los Angeles beginning Saturday, March 8; and Oakland on Sunday, March 9. Tickets will be available through www.ticketmaster.com.

US TOURJULY 2008

Mon, 7/7 Paramount Theatre (Oakland, CA)
Thu, 7/10 Orpheum Theatre (Los Angeles, CA)
Fri, 7/11 Orpheum Theatre (Los Angeles, CA)
Mon, 7/14 Chicago Theatre (Chicago, IL)
Wed, 7/16 NY Terminal 5 (New York, NY)
Thu, 7/17 NY Terminal 5 (New York, NY)

Yazoo, the 80s synth-pop duo of Alison Moyet and Vince Clarke that last month announced its first live concert dates in 25 years, have extended the reunion tour. Yazoo will play Barcelona’s Sonar Festival in June before embarking on a tour of select US cities in July. The news was announced on the group’s website and in a full page in ad in New York’s Village Voice. The group is still known in the US as Yaz.

As reported last month, the tour follows the release of a 4 disc retrospective of the group’s 2 albums.

Due for release on May 2008 is “In Your Room”, a 4 disc box set featuring the stereo remasters and 5.1 mixes of the classic albums “Upstairs At Eric’s” and “You And Me Both” next to a disc with B-sides and remixes. Add to this a DVD featuring an exclusive short film with new interviews from Vince Clarke and Alison Moyet and the videos for “Don’t Go”, “The Other Side Of Love”, “Nobody’s Diary”, “Situation (1990)” and “Only You (1999)”.

Wow, there you have it. Even some US dates, not that it will do us Utahn's any good in the least bit. Oh well, at least we have Dead or Alive to look forward to. NOT!
