VIDEO O' THE WEEK: BAND-AID "Do They Know It's Christmas?"

'Tis the Season, and to kick things off, I have selected one of my all time favorite Christmas songs for our "Video o' the Week". Those of us who are 40ish, remember this great song from our adolescence. It features many of the popular artists of the time... at least those from the U.K.. Included, you will find Bono, Sting, Boy George, the boys from Duran Duran, Paul Weller (then of The Style Council), the ladies of Bananarama, among others. The song was penned by Bob Geldof, of The Boomtown Rats, as well as Midge Ure, of Ultravox. It was recorded in just under 24 hours, and held (probably STILL holds) the world record for quickest released single. It came out within a couple days of recording. All proceeds were to help with famine relief in Ethiopia. The following summer, Bob Geldof also organized LIVE AID, which raised millions for the starving people in Africa. Enjoy the video, and while you do, think of those throughout the world who suffer, and ponder what you can do, this Christmas season, to help those who suffer...

... and STAY TUNED... coming up, Uncle Zeke's list of FAVORITE CHRISTMAS SONGS (and albums), as well as LEAST favorite Christmas songs and albums...

Well, this just reminds me of when SNL parodied it. They did, didn't they? Or was that a different song?

Anyhoo, I looked for it online, but all I found was Jimmy Fallon and Jack Black doin' it. Worth sharing, as is ANYTHING with Jack Black.

Kate, darlin', I think you were thinking of "USA For Africa". The American rip-off, although their hearts were in the right place... their creativity was NOT. No offense, Quincy Jones.
