The solo debut album by JONSI, lead vocalist of the Icelandic group, SIGUR ROS, has become one of my favorite albums of the year. A haunting soundscape of utter beauty, I find myself listening to it over... and over... and over.
Just look at the list of instruments played on the album and you will know that it is a piece of art. Glockenspiel... strings... woodwinds... horns... ukelele... and that is just the tip of the iceberg. No pun intended.
Although the two "official" videos to be found on YouTube are my two least favorite songs of the album (they are rather hyper in nature, where the rest of the album has a more surreal beauty), here is a sampling of what is to be found...
